Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey Play Santa In 'Christmas' Clip
Bieber debuts 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' video (and performs with Busta Rhymes and Usher) during 'Christmas in Rockefeller Center.'
By Jocelyn Vena
<P>Deck the halls! The holiday kicked into high gear Wednesday night (November 30) when New York's massive Christmas tree was lit during "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Plenty of A-listers were on hand, including Justin Bieber, who premiered his highly anticipated <a href="/news/articles/1673689/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-video.jhtml">video for "All I Want for Christmas Is You,"</a> featuring Mariah Carey. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Rocks Rockefeller Center" id="vid:715720" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>Before the strings of lights were illuminated, performances from Michael Bublé, Katharine McPhee, Big Time Rush, Tony Bennett, Carole King and Neil Diamond warmed viewers up. But Bieber was the headline act of the night, giving fans some big performances and an even bigger video premiere. </P><P> </P><P>Bieber amped up the energy with his hip-hop-ified take on the Christmas classic <a href="/news/articles/1673334/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-song.jhtml">"Little Drummer Boy,"</a> which included him spitting a holiday-themed rhyme. Decked in all black, the teen star had the crowd screaming. He was even joined by Busta Rhymes, who appears on the <i>Under the Mistletoe</i> cut. </P><P> </P><P>JB then slowed things down with <a href="/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml">"The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),"</a> leaving his female fans swooning as he crooned the holiday standard. He was joined by his mentor Usher for the track. </P><P> </P><P>"God bless and Merry Christmas," Bieber told the crowd before tossing to the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video. The clip features Mariah Carey dressed in a sexy Santa Claus outfit standing in a department store as she dances around singing the track, almost as if she's on display for holiday shoppers. It also sees Bieber and his pals shopping for some choice holiday gifts like high-top kicks. </P><P> </P><P>In between performance shots of Bieber and Mariah, a street-corner Santa Claus hands out envelopes to shoppers on the street, teasing an inevitable yuletide party scene. The shoppers are then welcomed into the department store, where Justin and Mariah hand out gifts to everyone. The duo tease and flirt with each other as everyone around them unwraps their gifts. </P><P> </P><P>Bieber and Carey re-recorded her classic holiday tune for his chart-topping holiday album, which also features appearances from the Band Perry and Boyz II Men. They filmed the video earlier this month, just in time for the holiday season. </P><P> </P><P><i>Did Bieber get you in the holiday spirit? Let us know in the comments!</i></p>

Ke$ha Is Channeling 'Sexiness' Of '70s Rock For New Album
Glitter-heavy pop star tells MTV News she's going for 'balls-out, irreverent rock and roll.'
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Matt Elias
<P><a href="/music/artist/_kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a>'s already got the face paint down pat, and, during recent live sets, she's even taken to <a href="http://www.popeater.com/2011/03/17/kesha-drinks-blood-during-performance" target="_blank">guzzling blood</a> out of a human heart, so it should come as no surprise that, on her upcoming album, the pop star is taking things back to the most <i>theatrical</i> era of rock: the prop-heavy, arena-spanning heyday of the 1970s. </P><P> </P><P>Ke$h revealed her plans over the weekend in Los Angeles, on the red carpet of KIIS FM's annual <a href="/news/articles/1663909/wango-tango-britney-spears-kesha.jhtml">Wango Tango</a> concert, where she told MTV News that the follow-up to her breakout <i>Animal</i> album (and, we suppose, <a href="/news/articles/1652714/kehas-cannibal-a-cheat-sheet.jhtml"><i>Cannibal</i></a> too) would be heavy on hard riffs and light on pretty much <i>everything</i> else. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Ke$ha Says New Album Will Be ' Balls-Out, Irreverent Rock'" id="vid:652875" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>"The next album ... I've been working on writing on the road, but as far as a sound, I just know it's gonna be balls-out, irreverent rock and roll," she said. "I've been pretty much in this '70s rock and roll kick and I just want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is, and that's just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a f---, so we'll definitely put a bit of rock and roll in it." </P><P> </P><P>So, does that mean that fans can expect the likes of Alice Cooper or Peter Frampton to show up on her new album? Perhaps. Because while Ke$ha's new album is still a ways off, she's already begun calling in favors, hoping to line up a killer collabo for the new disc. </P><P> </P><P>"I'm trying, trust me," she laughed. "I really would love to connect with one of my idols, I mean, that's my dream. I'm working on it." </P><P> </P><P><i>What do you think of Ke$ha going rock for her next album? Tell us in the comments!</i></p>

Adele: March 2012 cover girl of Vogue

On her 'loud' personality: ?I am quite loud and bolshie,? she says (British slang for unruly and clamorous). ?I?m a big personality. I walk into a room, big and tall and loud.? Indeed. There is no doubt when Adele is in the building. The rule of thumb for protecting one?s vocal cords, she tells me, is: If people are more than an arm?s length away, you shouldn?t talk to them. ?But I am like, Wah! Wah! Wah!,? she says, laughing. ?It?s really bad.?
On giving up drinking last May: ?Don?t like drinking anymore. I think I got it out of my system. D?yaknowhaImean??
On her vocal troubles: ?I?ve been singing properly every day since I was about fifteen or sixteen and I have never had any problems with my voice, ever. I?ve had a sore throat here and there, had a cold and sung through it, but that day it just went while I was onstage in Paris during a radio show. It was literally like someone had pulled a curtain over it.? She flew to London the next morning to see her doctor and was diagnosed with acute laryngitis. After a couple weeks? rest, she continued her European tour, came to America, and then her voice went again in May. ?That was a hemorrhage... a burst blood vessel on my vocal cord. That healed, I did a tour, and then it happened again at my best friend?s wedding on October 1.?
On getting support through her surgery from other artists: ?John Mayer had it done at the same time as I did and he really helped me be chilled out about it. Roger Daltrey?s had loads of stuff done; Steven Tyler reached out; Elton John. Lots of artists have had problems with their voices, but you don?t know about it. And they are still singing incredibly well in their 50s and 60s.?
On her six Grammy nominations: ?I burst into tears when I found out. And I would love, absolutely love, to win. This record is coming to an end, and that would be the final brick on it.? [gallery=821]

Eva Longoria: Dinner Date in LA
Stepping out for a romantic evening, Eva Longoria was spotted on a dinner date in Los Angeles last night (March 22).
The newly-single ?Desperate Housewives? dame was joined by Puerto Rican actor Amaury Nolasco as she dined at STK restaurant while shutterbugs took notice.
Gearing up for the release of her second scent EVAmour, Ms. Longoria has been singing the perfumed praises in the media.
Eva shared, "I'm not used to something that is so layered, and the second one is pretty layered with some pink lady apple and red currant. The first fragrance is a little simpler. It is like when you start drinking wine. I started with white wine and have gone into the more complex, red wine. I am taking baby steps into the more complex notes."

Beyonce Looks 'Sexy' Post-Baby, Destiny's Child Vets Say
Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland say the new mom looks 'amazing' and that Blue Ivy is 'beautiful.'
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kelly Marino
<P>Earlier this week, new mom <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> stepped out to debut her post-baby body for the first time. Decked out one night in a <a href="/news/articles/1678726/beyonce-post-baby-appearance-blue-ivy.jhtml">body-hugging red number</a> and another in a <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/08/beyonce-photos-carnegie-hall-night-two ">glittering black cocktail dress</a>, B was out in full force to support her hubby <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a> when he took the stage for a two-night engagement at New York's famed <a href="/news/articles/1678669/jay-z-carnegie-hall.jhtml">Carnegie Hall</a>. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Former Destiny's Child Members Say Beyonce Looks 'Amazing' Post-Baby" id="vid:732758" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>B certainly left her fans speechless with her ability to bounce back to hotness just a month after giving birth to baby Blue Ivy, and her former Destiny's Child pals were equally floored. So, obviously it just went back very quickly." </P><P> </P><P>Fellow DC gal pal Kelly Rowland also can't handle how Beyoncé is bringing sexy back one hot dress at a time. "She looks fantastic. She looks fantastic. I told her she looks so hot!" Rowland exclaimed. "She looks so hot — just even sexier. Love her!" </P><P> </P><P>And Williams noted that it's not just Beyoncé who is doing well these days, but so is 1-month-old Blue. "Absolutely! Absolutely [I've seen everyone]!" she said. FOOLISH ACTIVITIES: Reality Stars Derek J and Neffe CAUGHT UP In Hair Salon GUNFIRE Fight
Reality tv stars Derek J and Neffe (Keyshia Cole's sister) were dodging bullets recently when an angry stylist decided to bust a cap after Neffe complained about her hair! Deets inside....
Down in the ATL, Keyshia Cole's sister Neffe found out the hard way that you can't complain about a bad weave....some stylists are extra sensitive!
According to the police report, after getting a "hairdo" that she felt was a "hair-don't" at one salon, Neffe went across town to Derek J's salon so someone could fix her situation.
But when the first stylist got wind that Neffe came back complaining about the "style," he showed up with a gun!
Derek J said,
"Her (hair was) messed up to the point we didn't know what to do. So I was just like, reach out to the stylist and say 'Hey, what did you use, what did you do?" and it turned from a professional conversation to more of an argument, but we thought it was done."
But it wasn't..........
"A few hours later a gentleman shows up, the other stylist, wanting to talk and started an argument. I asked him to leave," owner Lisa McCall said. "Before turning away, he waved the gun in my face and said, 'You don't think I will?' And I backed up," McCall said.
And then....the stylist pulled the trigger and a bullet went into a floor board!
"We knew it wasn't a good thing when he came, but we thought it was going to be a quick exchange with words and then he was going to be gone. So, nobody really knew he would pull out a gun," Derek said.
The gun-packing stylist is still on the loose but no one was injured.....thankfully!

But Derek J added that he's pissed his floor got messed up! And he tweeted,
I want to say thank you to everyone that sent their concerns about the incident @Jspotsalon I am ok it is just unfortunate
This ghetto ish right here.....

'21 Jump Street': The Reviews Are In!
Critics mostly agree that Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum's undercover cop comedy is 'a vibrant reboot of a rather forgettable '80s TV series.'
By Eric Ditzian

Where my laughs at?
We've been suffering through a far-too-serious start at the 2012 box office. The first three-and-a-half months of the year have been dominated by weepy dramas ("The Vow"), kid-friendly animated fare ("The Lorax"), middling horror flicks ("The Devil Inside") and films that should have kept geek flags around the country flying high but instead could barely inspire a gust of nerdy enthusiasm ("John Carter," "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance"). Even the adventure-comedy "Journey 2: The Mystery Island" — #4, somehow, on the year's top-grossing-movies list — elicited more forehead-smacking guffaws than genuine belly laughs.
"21 Jump Street" is about to change all of that. As our friends over at NextMovie put it, Jonah Hill's new film is the "first must-see comedy of the year." The majority of critics agree, praising the movie's big laughs, star players and killer supporting performances. Read on for a deep dive into the "21 Jump Street" reviews.
The Story
"Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as novice cops who are forced to go undercover as high-school students to bust up a drug ring? Come on, that movie's going to blow, right? But '21 Jump Street' doesn't blow — which could have been this movie's raunchy, self-deprecating tagline if it didn't already have several. '21 Jump Street' isn't a wild, fresh reinvention of the movie-cliché-spoofing genre — this isn't 'Airplane!' we're talking about — but it's also not a drearily overfamiliar retread of it." — Dana Stevens, Slate
The Laughs
"A vibrant reboot of a rather forgettable '80s TV series sounds nearly impossible to pull off. And yet '21 Jump Street' accomplishes it with a fresh script, flip humor and inspired casting. ... It's no surprise that Hill, as bumbling officer Schmidt, generates so many laughs. But who would expect Tatum, as the dimwitted officer Jenko, to be so comical? More often cast as a standard heartthrob — most recently in the sappy 'The Vow' — Tatum holds his own with Hill and every other comic actor in the film. Their chemistry is terrific." — Claudia Puig, USA Today
The Supporting Players
"Rob Riggle as a blustery coach, Chris Parnell as a self-important drama teacher, Jake Johnson as a fed-up principal, Ellie Kemper as a science teacher with the hots and then some for Jenko -- they're all about as hilarious as can be while barely being there. With Jenko falling out with Schmidt, Schmidt falling for classmate Molly (the utterly adorable Brie Larson) and Capt. Dickson breathing down both of their necks, there are already plenty of hijinks to go around, and that's not even mentioning a couple of cameos." — William Goss, Film.com
The Dissenters
"At times '21 Jump Street' seems sufficiently clever and sly to avoid the pitfalls that befall most movie adaptations of TV series. In the early going, it mocks its own existence, its embrace of clichés, and, indeed, the very conceit at its heart. ... But directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller quickly abandon any pretense that they wish to puncture the silliness of the idea and, instead, embrace it. And after that capitulation, the film becomes a hit-and-miss hodgepodge of plotting and jokes redolent at least as often of desperation as of inspiration." — Shawn Levy, The Oregonian
The Final Word
" '21 Jump Street' admits from the start, in a nicely timed and very meta joke, that it's really just an attempt to mine the past for nostalgia and ideas -- in this case, adapting a somewhat beloved '80s TV show about undercover cops in high school. But while that might have been Sony's goal when they set up the movie with star and producer Jonah Hill, the movie itself is more of an excuse to combine a surprisingly touching buddy story with wild, absurdist comedy.... Unpredictable and very silly but with real emotional stakes, '21 Jump Street' makes up for a shaggy script with a wily, endearing energy that feels like anything but a tired retread." — Katey Rich, Cinema Blend

Kony 2012 Campaign Catches Eyes Of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga
Campaign aims to bring African militia leader Joseph Kony to justice for war crimes and for enlisting children as soldiers.
By Gil Kaufman
<P>A campaign to stop the nearly 30-year, brutal rule of African militia leader Joseph Kony became a viral sensation this week. <a href="http://kony2012.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com" target="_blank">"Kony 2012,"</a> started by the group Invisible Children, aims to make Kony's face so famous that authorities will finally be able to arrest him and try him for his crimes. </P><P> </P><P>A 30-minute <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4MnpzG5Sqc" target="_blank">documentary</a> released on Monday is one of the keys to the campaign, and as of Thursday it had gotten more than 26 million views. The video details the atrocities carried out by Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army. The campaign appears to be working, as at one point on Wednesday, Invisible Children and #stopkony were trending higher on Twitter than Peyton Manning or the new iPad. </P><P> </P><P>Since 1987, human rights officials say Kony has forcefully abducted more than 60,000 children to be soldiers in his army and reportedly raped, mutilated and killed civilians in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan and displaced more than 2 million people. The leader is wanted for committing atrocities by the International Criminal Court and is being hunted down by 100 U.S. Special Forces advisers and local troops in four Central African nations, according to the <a href="http://bit.ly/AyrDyz"><I>Associated Press.</I></a> </P><P> </P><P>Kony 2012 is an effort to capture Kony and disarm the LRA before a reported window of opportunity closes. One way it plans to do that is by encouraging users to directly message a variety of stars to make use of their Twitter ubiquity to get the word out. Among those listed on the site are: Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Jay-Z, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Ryan Seacrest and Ellen DeGeneres, along with a number of major policymakers. </P><P> </P><P>When users click on the celebs' photos, a tweet pops up that reads: Help us end #LRA violence. 'John Carter': The Reviews Are In!
Critics are not finding much to praise in film based on Edgar Rice Burroughs hero.
By Kevin P. Sullivan
Taylor Kitsch in "John Carter"
Photo: Disney
Disney's $250 million effort to bring the iconic Edgar Rice Burroughs hero, to the screen is certainly not making critics leap for joy supernaturally high because of differences in gravity. In fact, many have outright damned the film, while others have found a deep and fun love of B-movie and pulp traditions
We've rounded up a sampling of reviews of "John Carter," so you'll know whether to head out to the theater this weekend.
The Story
"Our hero is John Carter, the Confederate Civil War veteran who strikes gold in the Arizona territory but who is whisked to the planet Barsoom on the flimsiest of pretexts. Barsoom is Mars by another name, and the Virginia-born Carter lands in the middle of another civil war, this one between the Heliumites and the Zondangans. Dejah Thoris, the Heliumite princess known also as 'the red girl,' is about to be married off against her will. But love finds a way, and while Taylor Kitsch's hunky John Carter and Lynn Collins' dishy princess smolder as effectively as possible under the circumstances, Kitsch in particular seems lost in ways unrelated to his character's predicament." — Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune
Taylor Kitsch
"If the movie had a leading actor with the galactic charisma necessary for the task, we might even be talking classic sci-fi. Since it's impossible to put Harrison Ford into the Wayback Machine, though, we're stuck with the unfortunately named Taylor Kitsch (TV's 'Friday Night Lights') as John Carter, the burned-out Civil War veteran who finds himself mysteriously transported to the Red Planet while searching for gold in the caves of Arizona. Kitsch is decent company — manly, muscled, noble, sardonic — but there's nothing unique about him, and we follow him by default." — Ty Burr, Boston Globe
The Backstory
"It starts with a great story — of love and politics, time travel and mystical pathways between planets — badly sucked dry. Based on 'A Princess of Mars,' the post-Civil War/pre-Tarzan brainchild of arguably one of the most entertaining non-Disney imagineers of all times, Edgar Rice Burroughs, the book and the Barsoom (a.k.a. Mars) series that would follow has been picked over for plot points by Hollywood for years." — Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times
The Pixar Connection
"The Pixar touch is evident in the precision of the visual detail and in the wit and energy of Michael Giacchino's score, but the quality control that has been exercised over this project also has a curiously undermining effect. The movie eagerly sells itself as semitrashy, almost-campy fun, but it is so lavish and fussy that you can't help thinking that it wants to be taken seriously, and therefore you laugh at, rather than with, its mock sublimity." — A.O. Scott, New York Times
The Final Word
"The film was directed by Andrew Stanton, whose credits include 'A Bug's Life' (1998), 'Finding Nemo' (2003) and 'WALL-E' (2008). All three have tight, well-structured plots, and that's what 'John Carter' could use more of. The action sequences are generally well-executed, but they're too much of a muchness. Does 'John Carter' get the job done for the weekend action audience? Yes, I suppose it does." — Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Will Justin Bieber's Big-Screen Dreams Come True?
On his 18th birthday, we take a look at the superstar's upcoming acting gigs.

<P>By this point, it's no secret that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> has his sights set on the silver screen. Ever since his meteoric rise to stardom and his success with the concert film <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/461165/moviemain.jhtml">"Never Say Never,"</a> talk has circulated about his first dramatic film projects. </P><P> </P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:744688/cp~id%3D1680192%26vid%3D744688%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A744688%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> </P><P> </P><P>Now, on his 18th birthday, let's take a closer look at Bieber's big-screen potential! </P><P> </P><P>We got an early look at his acting chops on an <a href="/news/articles/1648613/justin-biebers-csi-cameo-shows-off-dark-side.jhtml">episode of "CSI,"</a> in which he played troubled teen Jason McCann and was famously blown away in a hail of gunfire. The cameo indicated his purported desire to take on darker roles, along the lines of those played by Mark Wahlberg. </P><P> </P><P>The most concrete movie project on the horizon for <a href="/news/articles/1665220/justin-bieber-mark-wahlberg-movie.jhtml">Bieber actually involves Wahlberg</a>. The two have been developing a basketball movie, in the vein of "The Color of Money." Wahlberg will play a weathered baller who takes a younger player (Bieber) under his wing. </P><P> </P><P><a href="/news/articles/1676492/mark-wahlberg-justin-bieber-basketball-movie.jhtml">MTV News spoke with Wahlberg about the project</a>, and he said his interest in working with the pop star comes from his intuition about Bieber's acting ability. "I see the guy and spent time with him, and you see what he does and how he does it," Wahlberg said. "Then you actually have a conversation with him, and it's there." </P><P> </P><P>The basketball project is currently in development at Paramount. </P><P> </P><P>Another Wahlberg-related project with Bieber's name attached is a rumored <a href="/news/articles/1678210/justin-bieber-fear-remake-reese-witherspoon.jhtml">remake of the 1996 film "Fear."</a> MovieWeb reported back in January that Bieber is supposedly "obsessed" with the movie and hopes to land the psychotic role to mirror Wahlberg's career path. There hasn't been an update on the remake's progress since. </P><P> </P><P><b>Happy 18th birthday, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>!
